Dear Sir,
Accident is a common cause of death around the world. It has become the focus in public health. To prevent an accident is the aim of public health systems. Analysis of the accidents can be useful for preventive action. During long weekends or holidays, a rise in the number of accidents is usually seen. [1] Here, the authors discuss the data on accidents occurring during the period of Thai new year festival in 2015 (a 7-day period). Based on the available data (http://www.komchadluek.net/detail/20150416/204794.html) there were 3,373 accidents resulting in 364 deaths and 3,559 injured patients. The accidents usually occur on the main roads and alcohol consumption is usually identified as the reason behind the accidents. Motorcycle accident is the most common type of accident. Based on the available data, it can be seen that there should be a more intense preventive action. In fact, ban and prohibition of alcohol consumption on vehicles is implemented in Thailand but it is usually ineffective. [2] This problem is common in any settings. In a developed country, the problem of alcohol consumption-related traffic accidents can also be observed. [1]
