Dear Editor,

Zika virus infection is a new problem in the present day. This viral infection is in the group of new acute hemorrhagic disease.[1] However, the issue on Thrombocytopenia in this infection is not mentioned properly. Indeed, there are some new evidences on this forgotten problem. The severe Thrombocytopenia cases can be seen in either local transmission or imported cases.[2],[3],[4] The bleeding presentation such as subcutaneous bleeding can be seen,[4] and the fatality due to severe thrombocytopenia is already reported.[3] Nevertheless, the rate of fatality is very low.[3] Based on this data, platelet count test must be done in any case, which is suspicious for Zika virus infection. The possible pathophysiology underlying Thrombocytopenia in Zika virus infection and the difference in severity of the problem might be similar to the well-known similar infection, Dengue.
