Dear Sir,
The intestinal parasitic infestation is an important tropical infectious disease. It affects millions of world population.[1] To diagnose, microscopic stool examination is required. However, a big problem is the difficulty in differential diagnosis of several similar parasite eggs. Here, the author reports a preliminary test to assess the three basic properties, contour, texture, and color of intestinal parasite egg, which might be useful in differential diagnosis. With help of computational laboratory technology, the contour, texture, and color of 10 different intestinal parasite eggs could be captured from the photographs and interpreted into computation codes for further comparison. The comparison shows that only contour of the egg might be useful for differential diagnosis. Here, the basic information will be further used for intervention of artificial intelligence to help differential diagnosis of intestinal parasite eggs. This can be a useful step for further development of new laboratory tool. Indeed, the similar tool has been previously reported for usage in medical laboratory as tool for differential diagnosis of urine sediment.[2]
