Zika virus is a flavivirus of interest in the present day. Due to the emerging problem due to Zika virus infection, the study on virus sequences is very interesting in tropical biomedicine. Finding of the nuclear expressed sequence that is directly related to transcription process can be useful for target drug searching.[1]

Here, the authors perform nuclear-expressed sequence Tag (NEST) analysis of Zika virus nonstructural protein 1. The technique is a transcriptomics approach as described by Macas et al.[2] Based on the analysis, there are three identified positions within Zika virus nonstructural protein 1, Ser304(A), Gly305(A), and Arg306(A). These can be the focused sites for study on transcription of the virus and can be useful for further antiviral drug research.
