Dear Sir,

Ischemic stroke is an emerging public health problem at present. Sometimes, ischemic stroke can be related to tropical infections. Dengue is an important tropical infection that is reported for its relationship to ischemic stroke. Nanda et al. noted the possibility of “immune-mediated vasculitis caused by dengue infection.” [1] In fact, the neurological complication of dengue is an important issue in clinical practice. [2] Vasculitis is believed to be an important pathological process underlying neurological complication in dengue. [3] Nevertheless, some concomitant disorders for dengue that can lead to vasculitis are also reported (good examples are Kawasaki disease [4] and streptococcal infection). [5] This is the point at which to differentially diagnose in any case of suspected dengue vasculitis, including in the report by Nanda et al[1] Indeed, stroke is a rare presentation in dengue and the case usually has some underlying neurological abnormalities. [1],[6],[7] In general, the incidence of dengue-related stroke is about 0.26%. However, its exact incidence in pediatric patients has never been studied and this should be a topic of further research.
